Sequoia Awards Alumni Like Valeria are Making a Difference!

Past Sequoia Awards winner Valeria Torres works with educational partners to create strong relationships in California and Washington state- – including prospective and current parents, school leaders, authorizers, local and state political leaders and board members to ensure there is educational equity for current and future generations. She is currently the Manager of Government Affairs at Summit Public Schools.
As a student in 2013, she was honored for her outstanding local volunteer work and her commitment to her community. She’s pictured above with former Sequoia Awards Board Member Paul Shepherd receiving her scholarship
Recently, Valeria became a Sequoia Awards donor to help support the next generation of Peninsula scholars.
She shared, “The Sequoia Awards made it possible for college to be more financially attainable for me. Giving back to my community has always been something very important for me, and giving back to The Sequoia Awards is just one way of giving back to my community.”
